Create Clustered Data ONTAP SnapMirror Relationship on 8.1.x
Goal
This
workflow will setup a SnapMirror relationship for a Clustered ONTAP volume.
This includes:
·
A
SnapMirror destination volume is provisioned on the chosen secondary Storage
Virtual Machine
·
The
secondary Storage Virtual Machine can be the same as the primary Storage
Virtual Machine or a different Storage Virtual Machine on the same or different
Cluster as that of the primary volume
·
A
SnapMirror relationship is configured with the selected schedule for periodic
updates to the relationship.
Pre-requisites:
·
Cluster
peer is required in case the SnapMirror secondary is a different cluster than
primary. Cluster peering between primary and secondary clusters can be
established using "Establish Cluster Peering" sample workflow.
Source
Details Input parameters:
The
user inputs for the Source Details in this workflow are all selected from what
is available in your environment. All user inputs are locked in drop-down
lists, and all user inputs are required.
1)
Source Cluster – The Clustered ONTAP storage system that hosts the Storage
Virtual Machine and the volume you would like to mirror. Only the clusters with
SnapMirror license applied will be available for selection.
The drop-down list identifies both the
name of the Cluster and its Primary IP Address
2)
Source Storage Virtual Machine – The Storage Virtual Machine that hosts the
volume to mirror
The drop-down list identifies all of the
Data Storage Virtual Machines in the selected Cluster
3)
Source Volume – The name you would like to use for the volume
The drop-down list identifies the names
of volumes belonging to the selected Storage Virtual Machine, along with the
aggregate currently hosting the volume, the Total Size and Used Size of the
volume, as well as the thin provisioning settings
Destination
Details Input parameters:
All
user inputs for the Destination Details in this workflow are selected from what
is available in your environment, and all user inputs are locked in drop-down
lists, with the exception of the Destination Volume name. All Destination
Detail user inputs are required.
1)
Destination Cluster – The Clustered ONTAP storage system to host the
destination Storage Virtual Machine and the volume. Only the clusters
with SnapMirror license applied will be available for selection.
The drop-down list identifies both the
name of the Cluster and its Primary IP Address
2)
Destination Storage Virtual Machine – The Storage Virtual Machine that will
host the SnapMirror destination volume
The drop-down list identifies all of the
Data Storage Virtual Machines in the selected Cluster
3)
Destination Volume. – The name you would like to use for the destination volume
4)
SnapMirror Schedule
Name of a pre-defined cron schedule in
the destination cluster. Default schedules available in the cluster are
displayed by default. A pre-created custom schedule can also be provided.
Result
The
workflow will result in creating a destination volume, establish a SnapMirror
relationship between the source and destination volume, and perform the
SnapMirror baseline initialization. The job will wait till the baseline is
completed from the primary to the secondary.
Error
Handling
1) An error message
is displayed if, there is not enough space available to create the destination
volume
2) If an unforeseen
event occurs while creating the SnapMirror relationship.
