The Retain SnapMirror and SnapValut Configurations before MetroCluster Switchback workflow enables you to preserve SnapMirror and SnapVault configurations in the remote site in the local (OnCommand Workflow Automation (WFA)) database.

After a MetroCluster switchover operation, data such as SnapMirror policies and SnapMirror relationships that are retrieved from the remote site must be saved before you execute the MetroCluster switchback operation.

Prerequisites for executing the Retain SnapMirror and SnapVault configurations before MetroCluster Switchback workflow

You must ensure that certain requirements are met before executing the Retain SnapMirror and SnapVault configurations before MetroCluster Switchback workflow. You must be a cluster administrator for executing this workflow.

  • Your system must be running clustered Data ONTAP.
    Note: This workflow is qualified to work with Data ONTAP 8.3 and later.
  • OnCommand Workflow Automation (WFA) 3.0 or later must be installed.
  • You must have added OnCommand Unified Manager 6.2 or later as a data source in WFA and obtained the latest Unified Manager data.
  • The state of the remote site must be switched over.

The Retain SnapMirror and SnapVault configurations before MetroCluster Switchback workflow enables you to preserve data from a MetroCluster switchover operation in the local (WFA) database. The workflow enables you to retain switchover data such as SnapMirror policy data, SnapMirror policy rule data, and SnapMirror relationship data.

Before you execute the MetroCluster switchback operation, you must ensure that the switchover data is retained.

Executing the Retain SnapMirror and SnapVault configurations before MetroCluster Switchback workflow

The Retain SnapMirror and SnapVault configurations before MetroCluster Switchback workflow enables you to retain MetroCluster switchover data in the local (WFA) database. You must execute this workflow before running the MetroCluster switchback operation.

Before you begin

  • The workflow pack must be downloaded from the Storage Automation Store.
  • You must have reviewed the prerequisites for executing the workflow.

About this task

You should know the name of the MetroCluster cluster whose switchover data has to be retained.

Steps

  1. Log in to WFA by providing the necessary credentials.
  2. Click Portal > Data Protection > Retain SnapMirror and SnapVault configurations before MetroCluster Switchback.
    Tip: You can use the filter () to locate the workflow.
  3. Click the Execute icon ().
    The Execute Workflow 'Retain SnapMirror and SnapVault configurations before MetroCluster Switchback' dialog box is displayed.
  4. Select the MetroCluster cluster.
  5. Optional: Click Preview to validate your workflow before executing it.
  6. Click Execute.
    You can also schedule the workflow for execution at a later date and time by selecting the Choose Date and Time for Execution check box.

After you finish

You should verify that the MetroCluster switchover data is retained by accessing your local (WFA) database.
